These cute products are perfect for any number of baby-themed items. I chose to share an altered frame for my second project featuring a photograph of my son Isaac from the day he was born. From the minute I saw the Nested Ducks die template, I wanted to create “quilted” ducks, and I’m thrilled with the way they turned out. Although these particular quilted ducks are made of paper, I did experiment with fabric and the templates cut certain types of fabric beautifully. The nice, simple lines make these great templates to use for experimenting with applique projects.

Simple Baby Card

Written by Jennifer on Oct 26 2009

20091026-Baby-Card

Happy Monday everyone! I thought I’d share a card today that I made a month ago to congratulate my cousin on her 5th child (finally a baby girl! YAY!) This card is super quick and simple, since I made it at the last minute just before shipping her a few hand-me-down sleepers.

To create this, I simply rounded the corners of the card and the patterned paper, wrapped embroidery floss around the card, and stamped and die-cut the title. I used one of the newer Spellbinders labels, which I’ve really been in love with lately. The details really pop when a little ink is added to the embossed areas.

Here’s hoping everyone has a great Monday!

Supplies:
Teal Cardstock
Butterfly Patterned Paper: Making Memories

Embroidery Floss

Hybrid Scrapbook Page About Baby Food, Link to Free Digital Kit

Written by Jennifer on Jun 08 2009

Happy Monday!

The page I’m sharing today is another Hybrid page made with the Express Yourself free Digital Scrapbook available at ShabbyPrincess.com along with several now-retired Spellbinders dies. The circles in this layout really pull the whole thing together as well as help draw attention to sweet baby Hannah’s face.

At the time this layout was made, we were just barely starting to make some progress in getting Hannah to eat solid foods. She’s turned out to be very stubborn in that department and her weight stayed constant at 16 pounds for several months – to the point of worrying our family physician.

Finally now at 13 months, she is eating larger volumes of select foods and gaining weight. We’re looking forward to her next check up next month to see if she’s come back up onto the growth chart.

For Love of Food

Supplies:
Express Yourself Kit: Ronna Penner
Circle, Picnic, Harvest, Heart, Mystery, School Dies: Spellbinders
Simplicity Font: Spellbinders
Stamp: Stampin’ Up
Ink: Clearsnap
Brown, Yellow, Green Cardstock: Unknown
Circle Sticker: Unknown

Forgotten Friday: Baby Blessing Page

Written by Jennifer on Jun 05 2009

Lately I’ve been seeing blog posts that focus on how you started scrapbooking, or what your first projects looked like. I’ve always been an advocate of being proud of your past work… after all, preserving your world is what scrapbooking is all about. It’s a great way to relive the memories that you intended to capture and it also serves as a snapshot into trends, lifestyle, and art from your past. Seeing one’s past evolution can be a bit haunting at times, but just like other parts of life, it’s important that we be at peace with our past and forgive ourselves for our mistakes, transgressions, and most importantly, bad taste!

So, each Friday I’ve decided to post a little something from my paper-crafting past. I cherish the gifts that my hobby has brought me and celebrate the chance to relive the memories. So, without further ado, this was my very first page. My mother gave me the beautiful embossed paper and stickers when she found out that I was going to start scrapbooking. The layout literally took me weeks to complete. It was done in June, 2003.

As Seen on TV…

Written by Jennifer on May 29 2009

On Tuesday, Kim Hupke from Spellbinders presented the Wizard and Nestability Dies on the Home Shopping Network. This scrapbook page was displayed during the segment as an example. There are a total of five dies used on the page, as well as paper from My Mind’s Eye, rub ons from American Crafts, and the retired Indulgence Numbers dies from Spellbinders. Both the label and the bird were designed digitally, printed, then die cut using Spellbinders dies. This hybrid technique is fast becoming one of my favorites. The patterned paper is one that I featured earlier and have available for download here.

I’ve also recently become a huge fan of Dew Drops from Robin’s Nest. They add the perfect touch to projects. You can see them on this page surrounding the “1.”

Isn’t my baby Hannah just beautiful? It’s hard to believe she’s over a year old now.
