I preserve myself, my family, my faith and the records thereof at all times as artfully as possible.

We celebrated Hannah’s first birthday last Friday with pound cake and strawberries. She’s an adorable girl. Currently, she can crawl, pull herself up to standing, and talk lots of gibberish. She’s such a blessing to our family.
Backfill was completed last week and the garage floor was poured yesterday morning. Previous post shows first delivery of materials. Cool stuff!
It was very cool to see the first delivery of our house materials. Trusses will come next week and most of the other materials in a couple of weeks. View the full post for the video.
My project photos have always been a little so-so and it frustrates me. I usually try to go for natural lighting and compensate with Photoshop. Yesterday I decided to make things easier on myself and construct my own table-top photo studio. It has made a ton of difference!
In general, I followed these instructions with a few small modifications. I used two clamp lights from the home improvement store with Ott-Light light bulbs. I am thinking the light bulbs are not quite white enough (I corrected the photos below), but that’s something that is easily compensated for.
Here’s a photo of the set up, plus a before and after project shot.
I’m still learning about the lighting and the best adjustments to make after the photos are taken, but I am very very pleased with the results.
I made this with my mother a long time ago and thought it was just super cute when I ran across it again.
We began building our house almost a month ago and we’ve made some really incredible progress so far. Most of these photos were posted on the blog previously, but I know the photos weren’t working well, so I’m reposting this.
Backfill will happen this weekend, then we’ll get the garage floor poured and framing will start next week. Fun stuff!
I spent last week at the 2009 Spellbinders Design Team Retreat, and it was absolutely a blast. We reviewed a variety of techniques, new and old.
We got Copic certified…
We received very generous Cross-Promotional gifts to use in our design team work.
And we had a fabulous time with new and old friends. What a fun week!
So for the three of you who might have actually visited my blog in the past, I hope you won’t miss the content that I had previously posted. I will slowly work on getting some of the old stuff back up, but I won’t be able to import it into the new format. I switched hosts and blog engines, and I just didn’t think it was worth the effort. The new format is more user friendly for me and I’m thinkin’ it’s kinda cute too.
For any of you who are new to my end of the galaxy, welcome, and thanks for stopping in. Hope to see you back again soon.
